BTI WEB SITE SERVICE
Web Site Publication

Having a web site is like having any other type of advertising tool.  It won’t make any difference how great it is, if no-one can see it, you’ve wasted your time and money.

So, where’s the INTERNET BOOK?
(We aren't using the phone, so we couldn't say phone book.)

Unfortunately, there isn’t one.

Well - let us rephrase that.  There isn’t JUST one.  There are actually hundreds - and they are called either "Search Engines", "Catalogs" or "Directories".  They come in all different shapes, sizes, colors and operations.

Some are great, some are not so great but serve a purpose and SOME aren’t worth the time to type in their URL (web address).

Although, most will allow you to list your Web Site with them for free, some charge a premium to have you show up at the top of their list.

So which ones should you list your Web Site on? - As many as you can!!!

We have prepared a list of Search Engines, Directories and Catalogs (linked to the bottom of this page) that fall under the "Great" and "not so great" categories for you to publish your web site with.  Many are exclusively for real estate, most are not (you’ll probably get as much, or more activity from the ones that are not).

By clicking on the title, you can go to their site to check them out.  If they have a submission page, you can click on the "S" next to the title and go there direct.  When you see them, you will find that some require only your URL to publish while others ask you to fill in all sorts of information.  Some will even require you to scroll and click through reams of advertising to complete your submission.  However, the fact that they are free to use, sort of offsets the time they take to get your site listed.

So!

Let's say you go through the trouble to publish your pages on all the different search engines and catalogs, will your site be successful?  The probability is pretty good (assuming, of course, that we've designed your web site), but not guaranteed.  However, if you don’t publish, we CAN guarantee that you will draw about as much attention on the Internet as a grain of sand in the desert.

Your "Key Words" will play a big part in whether or not (and where) your site showes up on any particular Search Engine (Catalog and Directory submissions generally show up where YOU put them).  Sites developed by us have an excellent set of real estate related key words already.  However, you may have an application that is unique and needs to be included.  Be sure to review your key words and have us add any that you think need to be included.

As for how soon your site will show up on any particular directory or engine once you've published it.  They are all different.  Some show up immediately, some take as long as 6 weeks.  Be patient, but be persistant.  If it doesn't show up when they say it will, submit it again.

Of course the next question is "Once you’ve published your site, will you ever have to do it again?".  Unfortunately, the answer is "yes".

Because there are so many web sites being published every day, many of the search engines will allow a URL publication to get "stale".  In other words, in order to give new sites (with similar key words) a chance, some search engines will push older sites further and further down the list as new ones come in.  This means that you should re-publish your site every six months or so.

Since this process of listing your URL with all the different search engines and catalogs can be such a tedious and time consuming (although necessary) task, we have generated a service to do it for you.

For only $25.00 per page (URL), we will add as many of your web site pages as you like to our listed search engines and catalogs (some may not be taking new URLs at the time of publication).

This service does not guarantee placement or position on any particular list.  It simply keeps you from having to go through the process yourself.

Take a look.

WARNING

Beware of those emails you'll get that "guarantee" top placement on hundreds of search engines if you send money to some post office box.  They have about as much chance of giving you "top placement" as your accountant has of giving you a guarantee that the IRS won't audit you after he's listed 80% of your $200,000 income as a charitable donation to your aunt's bridge club.
